Leeds Abolitionist Futures (in person) Reading Group
A selection of abolitionist books
We're really pleased that Yara, Maia and ally are organising an in-person abolitionist reading group in Leeds this year.
It will be held in person every two weeks on a weekday evening between April - July 2025 for six or seven sessions. This is planned as an IRL group and not a hybrid one.
The reading group will work from the Abolitionist Futures reading list, which you can read here. Together we'll cover the basics of prison and police abolition, as well as how it fits in with queer, feminist and anti-racist movements, what's wrong with the alternatives to abolition. We'll adapt what we read in the latter weeks depending on the interests of the group.
The reading group is open to everyone - whether you're affiliated with the University of Leeds or not.
If you're interested in attending, please let us know by filling out this form. Your answers will help us find the best venue, dates and times for the reading group. You don't need to attend all of the sessions, but we'd like to arrange a venue soon so your answers can give an indication of which location would work best.
