Abolitionist Futures will process the personal information you provide to send you information about the activity of Abolitionist Futures, as well as relevant news or events. We will also occasionally process personal information you provide in order to ensure that we are able to meet access needs at our events and meetings.

What is the purpose of this document?

Abolitionist Futures collects and processes personal information. We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use your data to meet our obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What personal information do we collect and how is it used?

Personal information means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified.  It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

How is your personal information collected?

We collect information directly from you through our mailing list sign up form, expression of interest forms and through organisations we have partnered with to put on events.  We may collect personal information in the course of organising events or meetings.

Who has access to your data?

Your information may be shared internally, including with other members responsible for managing and administering projects, meetings and events.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

Data security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where we are legally required to do so.

Data retention

We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

If you have provided your consent to the collection, processing and transfer of your personal information for a specific purpose, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.  Once confirmed, we will no longer process your information for the purpose you originally agreed to, unless we have another legitimate basis for doing so in law.

If you believe that the organisation has not complied with your data protection rights, you can complain to the Information Commissioner (ICO).

Accessing your data

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to [address] or email address.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please email or write to us as soon as possible at the above address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

Changes to this privacy notice

We reserve the right to update this privacy notice at any time, and we will provide you with a new privacy notice when we make substantial updates. We may also notify you in other ways from time to time about the processing of your personal information.
